    Thermosetting short fiber reinforced polymer (SFRP) composite has excellent thermal stability, dimensional stability, rigidity and corrosion resistance. It is a very promising lightweight material, which has been widely used in military, automotive and aerospace industries. At present, the main preparation method is to use SMC and BMC as raw materials for compression molding and injection molding, with high production efficiency and good product accuracy, but the preparation cycle is long, the production cost is high, and it is difficult to manufacture parts with complex shapes.


    The rapid manufacturing center of Huazhong University of science and technology has put forward for the first time an integrated process for the preparation and forming of carbon fiber / epoxy thermosetting resin based on powder bed laser additive manufacturing (SLS), which can overcome the above shortcomings. The composite prepared has three-dimensional continuous carbon fiber / nylon (PA12) / resin (EP) ternary structure, and shows higher tensile and bending than most SLS materials reported Strength.
